About Clarke County Health Department

The Clarke County Health Department offers clinical and environmental services to the public. Certified copies of birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates may be obtained from the health department.

Hours of operation: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Clinic Services
Birth, Death, Marriage, and Divorce Certificates
Certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates for the State of Alabama can be obtained from your local county health department for a fee of $15.00 for the first copy and $6.00 for each additional copy purchased at the same time.  These certificates can usually be issued within an hour.
Cancer Detection
Patients can obtain Pap Smears, breast examinations, and self examination instructions.  Help in finding treatment for cancer is also available.
Family Planning
Birth control information, medical exams, and supplies are available.  We provide family planning methods, counseling, and education.
HIV/AIDS
We offer confidential information, testing, counseling, social work services, home care, and referrals to other support services in the community.

Immunizations
Immunizations to prevent childhood diseases are available.  Children should have these immunizations from age 2 months through 6 years, with additional immunizations as needed.  A certificate of immunization (blue slip) is provided for children to enter all day care centers and public and private schools.  Immunizations for adults for measles, pneumonia, tetanus, flu, and other diseases are also available.

Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)
Confidential testing, treatment, and counseling for most sexually transmitted diseases is available.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
Nutritious food and nutrition education services are available free to limited income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women; infants, and children up to age 5 who qualify for WIC, the supplemental food program for women, infants, and children.

Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) Insurance Coverage For Mental Health

Obamacare purchased from the Health Care Marketplaces covers Mental Health Care and Substance Use Disorder Treatment. Under the Health Care Law there are 10 categories of benefits. Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Treatment are two of the 10.

If you have Affordable Care Act Coverage you will have mental health care coverage.
