Our main center in Port Arthur, Texas offers complete services to all our patients. All in one location, Gulf Coast Health Center offers 22,000 square feet of medical, dental, mental health, and pharmacy services.
Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. is a private, non-profit community based organization. We are partially funded through grants, including funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration. A sliding fee scale is used for non-insured patients. Guidelines for this scale are based on poverty guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Major insurance plans are also accepted as well as Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIPS. Services offered include, but are not limited to, Primary Healthcare, Prescription Assistance (for those who qualify), Dental, and Behavioral Health Services.
Dental
Research indicates that good oral health is important to a person's overall health and wellbeing. As a federally qualified community health center, Gulf Coast Health Center provides general dentistry services for adults and children in our communities. GCHC's Dental Center in Port Arthur is the only dental clinic in Jefferson County dedicated to providing affordable, accessible care to the uninsured and underserved. Our low cost, high quality dental services are the only available option for many Southeast Texas residents who are without dental insurance and would otherwise be unable to afford the cost of dental care.
We have recently expanded and doubled the size of our dental department to 8 exam rooms and we now employ 4 dentist and 2 dental hygienist. This expansion will allow us to serve our community with quicker appointments and high quality service.
Gulf Coast Health Center operates under a sliding fee scale payment model. What this means to you is that Gulf Coast Health Center provides their services even to patients who cannot afford care (such as low-income or who people who need to self-pay). Patients will pay according to their income. Be prepared to provide information on your household income.

Obamacare purchased from the Health Care Marketplaces covers Mental Health Care and Substance Use Disorder Treatment. Under the Health Care Law there are 10 categories of benefits. Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Treatment are two of the 10.
If you have Affordable Care Act Coverage you will have mental health care coverage.
