About Oneonta Community Health Center

Free Primary Healthcare to low income, uninsured adults and those challenged with health care and insurance costs.
Appointments are necessary to see a medical provider.

Please bring proof of household income to first appointment.

Currently, there is no residency requirement.
To be eligible:
Household incomes may not exceed 300% of the 2015 poverty level established by the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
The income of all members of a household will be considered in establishing eligibility. Documentation of income, ie. paystubs, tax returns will be requested at time of visit.
The patient must not be eligible for private, county, New York State or Federal insurance programs, such as, HealthyNY, Family Health Plus, Medicaid or Medicare. Patients will be guided to existing insurance programs if the income and employment status indicates possible eligibility.
We will not duplicate services; if a patient qualifies for other programs, we will assist in the referral.

Financial eligibility is reviewed every ninety days.

The Oneonta Community Health Center is open Tuesday evenings.
Through its volunteer licensed medical professionals, OCHC provides primary and preventive care to eligible patients. OCHC also helps eligible patients enroll in county, state or federal health insurance programs and obtain needed medications and advanced care. Future services will be announced, as they are available.
Services include:
- Preventative and acute care
- Management of some chronic and long-term medical conditions i.e. diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure.
- Health maintenance through return visits and education.
- Specialty referrals
- Dental referrals
- Health Education
- Life Issues Counseling
- Nutrition and Dietary Counseling
- Assisting in obtaining affordable drugs
Services not provided include:
- HIV and STD screening
- Drug testing
- Obstetrics
- Paternity testing
- Routine immunization
- Travel medicine
- Fertility testing
- Substance abuse treatment
- Emergency or major trauma services
- Mental Health

Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) Insurance Coverage For Mental Health

Obamacare purchased from the Health Care Marketplaces covers Mental Health Care and Substance Use Disorder Treatment. Under the Health Care Law there are 10 categories of benefits. Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Treatment are two of the 10.

If you have Affordable Care Act Coverage you will have mental health care coverage.
