Behavioral Health Services

Behavioral Health Services is a program of the Center for Child & Family Services in Newport News, Virginia. The Center, which was established in 1943, is a comprehensive provider of trauma informed counseling services to children, adults, and families. The Behavioral Health Services program has been designed to help you or someone you know face the problems of daily life and find solutions to those problems. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for each individual or family.

The Center has a proven track record of providing high quality confidential counseling services. Over the years, the Center has developed and maintained active and strong working relationships with other key human service providers in the area to ensure that each individual received the best and most appropriate services possible.

The Center serves all individuals regardless of race, color, religion creed, gender, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation. No one is turned away at the Center due to their inability to pay for services. The Center accepts most major health insurances and has a sliding fee scale for those individuals who do not have health insurance.

We recognize that there are many different types of problems individuals are facing in their daily lives. As a result, the Center has gathered some of the finest therapists in the area to provide trauma informed counseling services offered in all of the Centers programs. These therapists have advanced degrees in counseling and social work, and are licensed by the state of Virginia.

Sliding Scale

Center for Child and Family Services operates under a sliding fee scale payment model. What this means to you is that Center for Child and Family Services provides their services even to patients who cannot afford care (such as low-income or who people who need to self-pay). Patients will pay according to their income. Be prepared to provide information on your household income.

County or Local Government Funds

Counties are often responsible for backing services like schools and hospitals. Center for Child and Family Services receives funding from either the county or another local government. Medicare

Center for Child and Family Services accepts Medicare, a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older and people with disabilities.
