About Redwood Coast Medical Services

This is a sliding scale approved program

RCMS is a non-profit health center that offers a full range of health services in its three clinics in Gualala and Point Arena.
Services are designed to meet identified community service needs, are integrated with other existing health services and systems, and are regularly assessed to ensure community health needs are met.
As a non-profit corporation receiving public funds, RCMS offers services to qualified individuals on a sliding fee basis, as well as patients with MediCal and Medicare insurance, private insurance and self pay status.
RCMS is a local health center with a Federal Charter that mandates the treatment of all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.

At Redwood Coast Medical Services (RCMS), their mission is to provide quality, family-centered, community-based primary medical care, including a wide range of preventive health services, to residents and visitors of the Coastal County area of South of Mendocino and north of Sonoma. .

Healthcare services:

  • Pediatric and adult medicine, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
  • History and physical examination
  • Management of chronic diseases such as asthma, arthritis, etc.
  • Prenatal care
  • Women's health issues
  • Vaccinations 
  • HIV tests
  • Mental health and counselling services for acute and chronic issues
  • Nutrition, health information
  • Specialized consultations in cardiology, orthopedics, podiatry and ophthalmology
  • X-ray
  • Bone density testing
  • Geriatric care
  • Emergency care, including surgery and minor procedures (at the Gualala Clinic only)

Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm



Sliding Scale

Redwood Coast Medical Services operates under a sliding fee scale payment model. What this means to you is that Redwood Coast Medical Services provides their services even to patients who cannot afford care (such as low-income or who people who need to self-pay). Patients will pay according to their income. Be prepared to provide information on your household income.

Obamacare purchased from the Health Care Marketplaces covers Mental Health Care and Substance Use Disorder Treatment. Under the Health Care Law there are 10 categories of benefits. Mental Health Care and Substance Abuse Treatment are two of the 10.
